See Jon on TV Wednesday

Just wanted to let everyone know that tomorrow night, Jon will be doing color commentary for the Big Ten Network.  Penn State plays Sacred Heart at 6 p.m. EST in State College.  This will be the first of a good number of games Jon will be working for the Big Ten Network this season.

He is really looking forward to the opportunity.  I (Joe) am really looking forward to tuning in as well!  I’ll be sure to do my best to announce when he will be calling games in the future.

Buzzer Beater

Final score:  Enel Brindisi 73  Snaidero Udine 70.

I had the joy of hitting the final shot at the buzzer in order to win the game.  It was nice to do so, particularly because I didn’t play very well in the second half.

We played a good first half and led by six at the break, but struggled in the second half as a team.  It was back and forth in the end until we got the ball with five seconds remaining at half court.  I got a good look at a three point shot and thankfully was able to hit it for the win.  You can see it on YouTube here.

I ended the game with 13 points, along with four stitches in the top of my head and what seems to be, a slight concussion.  I’ve had a headache the last few days that I trust will go away soon.

Next game:  On the road at Imola.  I hope we can continue to find ways to win.

Good Road Win

This past Sunday we won a good game on the road against Vigevano.  We were up 21 points after the first quarter, showing clearly that we were the better team. Then things began to get more than a bit physical and more than a few calls didn’t go our way.  That enabled the other team to get back in the game, but we prevailed in the end, 84-75.

I didn’t play great, but ended the game well by hitting a few shots.  23 points and 6 assists were my final numbers.  This coming Sunday we play Udine at home.  I am hopeful our winning ways can continue.

Good Home Victory

This past Saturday night we won a good game over a strong Venezia team 86-66.  The game was close throughout, but we finished well and consequently, made it look a bit more lopsided than it was.  All in all, we played well as a team for probably the first time this season.  It felt good.

I played pretty well and ended the game with 22 points on 7-16 shooting.  I missed a few easy shots, but I also made a few hard ones I suppose.  Next game is on the road this coming Sunday.  I am hopeful we can continue to play well.

Tough Road Loss

I always seem to be slow to update after a loss.  Anyhow, we are currently 3-2 after losing to Veroli on the road last Sunday.  They played tough and we did not have our best game, myself included.  I ended the game with 19 points, but shot 1-8 from three and just wasn’t in my best rhythm, for either myself or the team.

I hope to do better tomorrow when we take on the team from Venice.  They have a strong roster and are currently 3-2 like us, so it won’t be easy, but I am hopeful we can win at home.  Either way, I’ll make sure to update sooner.
