Great Road Win
October 18, 2010
My squad and I got a great road win yesterday in Pistoia. Their team is a good one and their arena, a difficult place to play. We gained control of the game early and more or less, kept control of the game throughout. They took the lead on only 3 or 4 occasions, but all in the final 4 or 5 minutes of the game. W responded each time with a bucket to take the lead right back and ended up winning 74-69.
I didn’t shoot the ball well at all and overall, had difficulty finding a rhythm. I ended with 17 points on 6-21 shooting (tough to write, but true!), but also had 6 rebounds and 6 assists. It really was a good and enjoyable win for our team. Next up, Veroli this Friday night at home on TV. Should be a fun and challenging one.
New City, New Team, New Season
October 13, 2010
Newness all around and I am enjoying it. I am currently playing in Barcellona, Italy (yes, Italy not Spain) in the same league as I was in last year, Legadue. Adjusting to a new place is never easy, but it has helped having a good team with a good group of guys.
As far as basketball is concerned, we have won our first two games by a combined total of 46 points. Well, actually our first game was somehow ruled a forfeit because of some wrong paperwork filled out for our 2nd assistant coach. Yes, it is as stupid as it sounds. The decision has been appealed, however, so I am hopeful whoever is in charge will do the wise thing and reverse the decision, at the least our team should pay a small fine. That seems to make sense to me at least.
I have played well so far, scoring 21 and 27 in the first two contests. Our next game is on the road this Saturday against Pistoia. It won’t be an easy one, but that makes it all the more fun.
