Road Loss

February 26, 2010

This update is overdue, but last Sunday we lost to a desperate Venice team on their home court 74-68. It was a difficult game. They are at the bottom of the standings, but they won’t be there for long as they have gotten some new players and improved. It’s tough playing a team at the bottom of the standings at this time of year. For if they end up in the last two spots, they move down a division, so they fight hard!

Combine that with the inevitable home court favor and it wasn’t easy. But if we had made a few jumpshots, we would have won. They just didn’t go down. I am hopeful they will this coming Sunday when we play a tough Vigevano team at home.

I ended the Venice game with 17 points on 5-12 shooting. Would have liked to have hit two more threes, but that is sometimes how it goes.

Big Win

February 15, 2010

Got another big win yesterday over a difficult Veroli team. It was a home game and Veroli was just one win behind us in the standings. Having won the game by nine points, we hold the tiebreaker over them if we equal their win total at the end of the year.

We now remain one game behind the leader with 10 games left to play. We have been playing good basketball over the past few months, so I am hopeful it can continue.

I ended the game with 21 points and played pretty well overall. Next Sunday we play in Venice. Though their team is towards the bottom of the standings, they are difficult to beat and starting to play much better. I am hopeful we can stay focused and get another win.

Great Road Win

February 12, 2010

This update is overdue, but we got a good win over the first place team last weekend. At their place nonetheless. We are now one game behind them, with a big game this weekend against the team right behind us. Of course, all the games are big when you are fighting for first place.

Until later…
Joe

Missed Opportunity

February 1, 2010

Last night, we were up 15 points going into the fourth quarter, only to be outscored 32-12 in the final period. Needless to say, it was a difficult loss to swallow, particularly considering the fact that if we had won, we would have moved one game behind the first place team (who we play next week).

But that is how it goes sometimes in basketball, as much as I hate to admit it! I ended the game with 18 points, but it was far from my best game. I missed a few good opportunities down the stretch that could have moved the game in a different direction.

This coming Saturday we play Sassari, the first place team who we are still two games behind, at their place. I don’t think they have lost there yet. I am hoping for a good performance.

Great Road Win

January 25, 2010

It wasn’t an easy one by any means, but we ended up the victor over Rimini, 85-83, this past Saturday night. It was a much needed road win for us, so I am thankful to have gotten it. We are now 12-5 and in sole possession of second place, two games behind the first place team (who we play in two weeks).

I ended the game with 26 points and, more worthy of note, 7 rebounds. Next up: Casalpusterlengo this coming Sunday at home. I am hopeful our winning ways can continue.

Good Home Win

January 19, 2010

We won a good game the other day against Casale. Final score: Enel 90 Casale 82. They had won four straight before coming to our place, so it wasn’t easy.

I played one of my better games, ending with 21 points and more than 4 assists (though that is what the stat sheet said!). Next up: Rimini away on Saturday. They beat us bad the first time around, so I am hopeful we can play a good game!

Another Win

January 12, 2010

We won our final game of the first half of the season the other day versus a tough Pavia team. They are currently in last place, but I don’t think they will be there for long. Final score: Enel Brindisi 83 Pavia 80

I didn’t play much of the second half, but did end up with 15 points on 5-10 shooting. I was happy with the win though. We start the second half of the season against Casale this coming Sunday at home. We are currently 10-5 and in fourth place, though tied in wins with the second and third place teams. I am hopeful we can hit our stride during the next few months. They are probably the most important of our season.

Overdue Update

January 8, 2010

I believe we have now won three out of our last four games.  So Enel Brindisi is now in fifth place with a 9-5 record.  We play this coming Sunday at home against Pavia.  It is our final game in the first half of the season.  I am hopeful our winning ways can continue.  We shall see how it goes.

I personally played well during the three games we won and poorly in the one we lost.  As of late, however, I feel like I have finally found my rhythm, where I need to be as a player for the team to be at our best.  Let’s hope I can apply what I know!

Tough Home Loss

December 8, 2009

Reggio Emilia 71  Enel Brindisi 70.

Unfortunately, I was not able to play in the game due to a small adductor tear.  I wanted to play, of course, but couldn’t move quickly.  Kind of tough to play basketball at a high level when you can’t do that!

My teammates played their hearts out though.  We had a few calls that didn’t go our way at the end as well, so that didn’t make the loss any easier to accept.  But it is what it is.  I am hopeful we can rebound and find our winning ways again.  We play this Thursday at home again and Jesi.  It won’t be an easy game.  It never is.  I am hopeful I will play.

Tough Road Loss

December 2, 2009

Enel Brindisi 80  Imola 87.  We played a good game except for the final part of the fourth quarter.  I led the way in the final part, I must confess.  It was probably my worse finish of the season so far.  That is never enjoyable to admit.

In my opinion, the officials were far from having their best game.  And I do think that hurt us, but we still had our chances.  This coming Sunday we play at home against one of the teams tied for first place (we are one game out).  I am hopeful we can play well.  Four more games remain before we take a break for Christmas.  Would be nice to play well before the break.  I am praying accordingly and hopeful it can happen.
