Steve Crispin

Steve Crispin is our (Joe and Jon) father and by far our primary basketball influence growing up. He played High School basketball at Glassboro High School in New Jersey and scored 1450 points during his career (without the benefit of the three point line, which we took ample advantage of). He also led his team to a second place finish in the NJ Group 1 State Championship during that time.

He attended Villanova University on a Football scholarship. Shortly thereafter, he returned to Glassboro and served as the Head Coach for seven seasons. During that time, he had a 77% winning percentage, compiling a record of 159-47.  He also led the Bulldogs to three conference championships, one South Jersey Championship and one Group 1 State Championship.  Jon and I were the ball-boys for many of those teams and I personally remember his teams being quite good.

After his time at Glassboro, he began the developmental program for Pitman basketball as his efforts focused especially on helping us become the best we could be. He spent countless hours in the gym coaching our teams and/or us individually and countless hours on the road driving to such contests. In all seriousness, the best evidence for his basketball wisdom is our basketball success, because the vast majority of his basketball time and energy was invested into the two of us.

His specialty must be scoring because if you total up the High School scoring totals of myself (Joe), Jon, my sister Kellie, and my Dad himself, you come to a total of almost 7500 points (and my younger sister Karlie is still to come). Of course, I suppose my Grandfather, Cliff Crispin, could then step in and add up his totals, but I trust the point is plain. Our Dad knows his basketball, and especially, his scoring.

He serves Crispin Basketball as a consultant and, on days of his choosing, a camp director. His specialty, in our opinion, is individual skill development.
